Cameron Brink Credits Steph Curry After Joining Unrivaled
Los Angeles Sparks forward Cameron Brink credited her godbrother, Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry, for supporting her decision to join the Unrivaled basketball league. “When the league was just forming, we talked about it,” Brink told PEOPLE. “Steph is in full support. He thinks it’s a great idea and knows I love the fast-paced style of 3-on-3 basketball.”
Though Brink has officially joined the Lunar Owls team, she will not compete this season as she continues recovering from an ACL tear that ended her rookie year prematurely. Instead, the 22-year-old plans to use her time with Unrivaled to train, assist with the league’s promotional efforts, and prepare for her return to the court.
The new 3-on-3 league, co-founded by WNBA stars Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, will kick off its inaugural season in Miami in January 2025. Brink’s involvement has added to the growing excitement surrounding the league, which aims to redefine women’s basketball. Now five months into her recovery, Brink is optimistic about her progress. “I feel really good,” she said. “The process has been smooth, and I’m grateful for the people helping me along the way.”
Brink’s bond with Curry comes from their unique family connection. Their parents met at Virginia Tech and became lifelong friends, making Brink the godsister of Curry and his siblings, Seth and Sydel, according to PEOPLE.
