Phoenix Mercury guard Natasha Cloud had a unique way of reacting to the passing of the stopgap funding bill. Rather than a simple celebration, she decided to throw jabs at billionaires—specifically Elon Musk—by telling the American citizen and business magnate to “go back to Africa.” Adding to the mix, she also seemed to position herself as an expert on governmental operations. (Cue the laughter.)
Several Republican leaders, including Musk and former President Donald Trump, opposed the stopgap bill, aiming to prevent a partial government shutdown.
Had the bill failed, it would have extended current government funding levels until March 14. Trump and Musk threatened to remove any lawmakers from their positions if they didn’t support pairing debt limit activity with a Continuing Resolution (CR). Despite their efforts, the bill ultimately passed in the House, with every Democrat voting in favor.
“I’m so glad ALL these billionaires have no idea how the 3 branches of government work…or how a bill gets passed into law,” Cloud quipped.
She also took a moment to praise the 38 Republicans who voted against the bill in the House despite facing alleged threats and blackmail.
“About time the right had its own version of George Soros to piss off the left. LMAO… this is so great,” Cloud added.
