Despite the miss, Edwards delivered an impressive 32-point performance, while teammates Naz Reid and rookie Rob Dillingham also contributed significantly. However, the Grizzlies’ Jaren Jackson Jr., with 24 points, and Ja Morant’s timely plays sealed the comeback win for Memphis, who now boast a strong home record this season.
The Timberwolves led by 11 points at halftime, with Edwards scoring 22 points in the first half. Yet, Memphis mounted a strong response, with Jackson scoring 15 fourth-quarter points and the team hitting key free throws late in the game.
This is the second time in just over a week that Edwards missed a crucial shot against the Grizzlies. The loss also highlighted ongoing struggles for Minnesota, compounded by the absence of their starting point guard, Donte DiVincenzo, due to injury.
For the Grizzlies, Morant’s return to the lineup after recovering from a foot issue was pivotal. His leadership and ability to rally his team helped secure their fourth win in five games.
Minnesota now faces concerns about maintaining consistency as the season progresses, while Memphis solidifies its reputation as a resilient contender in the Western Conference.
