Dallas Mavericks
Luka Dončić is set to miss at least the next month of the season. The Dallas Mavericks star suffered a left calf strain during the team’s Christmas Day loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. On Friday, the team’s worst fears were confirmed.
According to NBA reporter Marc Stein, Dončić underwent an MRI and consulted with multiple medical professionals on Thursday. The conclusion: he will be re-evaluated in a month.
Dončić scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds before leaving the game on Wednesday. While his numbers were slightly down this season, the Mavericks are in fourth place and boast a slightly better winning percentage than last year’s Western Conference Finals campaign.
Losing their best player is a blow for the Mavericks, but it’s also a setback for broadcasters like TNT, MAX, ESPN, and ABC, who will now miss out on showcasing one of the league’s biggest stars at least once over the next month.
