LeBron James compares Cavs-Warriors NBA Finals rivalry to ‘rap beef’

It’s been several years since the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors last faced off in the NBA Finals, but the iconic matchups between these two teams in the late 2010s remain a hot topic—and likely will for years to come.

The Cavaliers and Warriors clashed in the NBA Finals each year from 2015 to 2018, with LeBron James and Stephen Curry at the center of the battles. In 2017, another future Hall of Famer, Kevin Durant, joined the mix after signing with the Warriors in 2016.

Recently, the three basketball legends sat down together to reflect on that unforgettable era, with James likening the rivalry to the famed East Coast vs. West Coast rap feud of the 1990s.

“Those four straight years, Cleveland versus Golden State… It was literally like East Coast versus West Coast… It was like a rap beef,” the four-time NBA MVP said in an interview with ESPN.

The Cavs and Warriors’ Finals showdowns have become the stuff of legend.
