The Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler is listed as questionable for Wednesday’s highly anticipated matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers. Butler sat out Monday’s disappointing loss to the Boston Celtics due to right knee soreness, an issue that has hampered his availability in recent weeks. The six-time All-Star has also dealt with a lingering ankle problem that sidelined him for four games in November.

“When guys go down, it’s our job to step up and try to fill in those gaps,” Jaquez explained after the loss. “Coming into this game, I knew I had to be aggressive, which was my mentality.”
Highsmith also contributed, adding 10 points, five assists, and four rebounds in his expanded role. While both players performed admirably, Miami’s offense sputtered, shooting just 36.8% from the field and committing costly turnovers.
The Heat’s injury issues extend beyond Butler. Veteran forward Kevin Love was initially listed as probable on Monday with back spasms but was downgraded to out before tipoff. Love, who has provided leadership and floor spacing, remains questionable for Wednesday’s contest. Additionally, guard Josh Richardson is dealing with an illness and is also listed as questionable. Richardson’s ability to defend multiple positions and provide secondary playmaking has been missed in Miami’s recent stretch of games.
Miami sits at a critical juncture in the season. Injuries have disrupted their rhythm, forcing head coach Erik Spoelstra to shuffle lineups and rely heavily on untested players.
