In a move that surprises no one, former U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) soccer player Megan Rapinoe has rushed to defend Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark over her remarks about “white privilege.” Not only did Rapinoe back Clark, but she also took the opportunity to lash out at conservatives in the process.
Rapinoe and her partner Sue Bird, a former WNBA player, co-host a podcast called “A Touch More.” On the show — which surely boasts sky-high ratings (cue sarcasm) — the duo frequently discusses sports and social issues, often echoing identical opinions centered on how terrible they believe America is due to racism, misogyny, and other perceived injustices.
In a recent episode, Rapinoe and Bird tackled Clark’s comments on “white privilege.” As expected, they jumped on the topic with enthusiasm, with Rapinoe even managing to take a swipe at conservatives along the way.
“I think what Caitlin did in her quotes, or in the article, was speak explicitly about her white privilege, and that’s what’s drawing so much criticism or backlash,” Rapinoe said. “That’s the lesson here. So, for conservative media coming at her, they’re just showing their whole a**.”
