Chicago Sky star Angel Reese revealed she was left speechless when she met Rihanna for the first time. During the latest episode of her “Unapologetically Angel” podcast, Reese shared with guest Coco Jones that she “didn’t have any words” when she encountered the music and fashion icon.
Reese and Rihanna crossed paths on Dec. 5 at the 38th annual FN Achievement Awards. During the event, the WNBA All-Star worked up the courage to ask the Fenty Beauty founder about a potential collaboration.
“It took everything in me to say that to her,” Reese admitted on the podcast. “I met Rihanna yesterday for the first time. My mouth, I couldn’t even, I didn’t have any words.”
Despite being star-struck, Reese managed to express her wish to collaborate. “I was like, ‘I wanna work with you.’ And that’s all I could say,” she recalled. “She’s like, ‘Let’s do it.’ And I said, ‘Bet.'”
Coco Jones empathized with Reese, noting that being speechless when meeting someone you admire is entirely normal.
“We be like that with Beyoncé and Rihanna,” Jones said. “…It’s like, to you, that is somebody you hold to a high esteem.”
While Reese struggled to find words at first, she eventually pulled herself together and made her request. Fans will now eagerly wait to see what a collaboration between the two stars might bring.
