The move signifies a fresh start for the organization, with Curt Miller also recently named as the team’s new general manager. Koclanes replaces Latricia Trammell, who coached the Wings from 2023 to 2024 before the team decided to head in a different direction.
Koclanes expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity.

Koclanes brings extensive coaching experience to his new role. He previously worked as an assistant coach at both the WNBA and college basketball levels, most recently serving on the coaching staff for USC women’s basketball.
Although the Wings struggled in 2024 and missed the postseason, the future looks promising. Dallas secured the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft Lottery and is widely expected to select UConn standout Paige Bueckers, a player many believe has franchise-changing potential.
With superstar Arike Ogunbowale already leading the team, the Wings could return to playoff contention sooner than anticipated. While transitioning to a new head coach will present challenges, the organization is confident in Koclanes’ ability to make a positive impact.
